Dying hair is a big decision for anyone. Will it look good? What will people think of it? And for some people: Will it look natural?
This question has become less and less important in teens’ minds throughout the years as the fad of dying hair abnormal colors like pink, green, purple, etc. increases.
If you look at your parents’ yearbook, it will probably be very rare to find a bunch of students with those unnatural colors. So when did all of this start, and what made it become popular?
One of the teens’ thoughts when choosing to dye their hair an unusual color is, ‘It will look SO cute!’
I agree, it probably will, but a person’s hair will look just as good if dyed one of the natural colors.
The advantage of having natural hair color over having the other colors is being taken seriously.
Most teens strive to be taken seriously as an adult. It is not as easy for a grown up (either in the work place or just in everyday interaction with people) to respect a kid who has a lime green ponytail.
Other people who make the choice to dye their hair those colors say, “it is a way to make us unique,” but there are so many other ways to make a person unique instead of making such a drastic change. Try a wacky hair accessory instead.
And is it really that good of an idea thing for a person to be known for their wacky hair instead of the person they are and their personality?
Now I want to make sure you know that I am not saying that not naturally dyed hair doesn’t look good, because that is not what I think. I just don’t believe there is a reason to have such a need to change the color that people were given naturally.
Think about now and how much the hair colors have changed from people 20 years ago. Now think about 20 or 30 years from now. If society grew up to have every four out of five people with neon hair, would that seem normal to you?
